VISION: A sustainable system that ensures the success of all children, pre-natal through age five

MISSION: The Institute for Child Success is a research and policy organization that fosters public and private partnerships to align and improve resources for the success of young children in South Carolina.

The statistics are as abundant as they are alarming.

Children across the country, and in particular across our state, are falling well below the most basic measures of academic success and well-being. On the most respected national survey of child well-being, South Carolina ranks 45th among U.S. States and lacks consistency in improvements.

Many react to these findings by asking the same startled question: ‘how have so many children failed within our system?’

At the Institute for Child Success, we’re asking a different question: ‘how has our system failed so many children?’

This shift in focus, from failed students to a failed system, is pivotal given the scale and scope of the problem. It is also critical to understanding the work of the Institute for Child Success.
